Sonja è nata a Den Helder nei Paesi Bassi. Nel Gennaio 2001 si trasferisce a Firenze, Italia. Laureatasi nel Febbraio 2008 come allieva di Fabio Cresci, lavora dal 2006 come assistente dell'artista Vittorio Corsini.
